Jaipur, September 18

Chief Election Commissioner OP Rawat on Tuesday announced that VVPAT and M3 EVM would be used in four states of Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and Mizoram for transparent and impartial Assembly polls due later this year.

These non-tamperable and credible machines for voters' verification would also be used in the LS polls, Rawat said at a press conference here. The EC would activate its latest “Citizen Vigilance” app in the four poll-bound states where anyone could lodge a complaint against unlawful campaign activities and violation of code of conduct. Action would be ensured within 100 minutes, Rawat said. If any complainant wants to keep his/her name and address secret in the complaint against a powerful candidate, action would be ensured with secrecy, he added. The EC team comprising Rawat, Sunil Arora and Ashok Lavasa was on a visit to review poll preparedness in Rajasthan.  — OC
