Crashing the Congress’ hopes of a tie-up with the BSP in the three states going to elections, BSP president Mayawati on Thursday announced her party’s alliance with the Janata Congress led by Ajit Jogi in Chhattisgarh.
Sharing this information with a TV channel in Lucknow, the BSP president made it clear that her party would contest 35 seats in Chhattisgarh while the Janata Congress would fight on 55 seats.
She also stated that in case the alliance won the election in Chhattisgarh, Ajit Jogi would be the Chief Minister.
The BSP announcement comes as a major jolt to the Congress which had been expecting an alliance with the BSP in Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan.
