Amidst all the noise around Yamuna river pollution and the visuals of toxic froth floating on its surface, if a picture of crystal clear river pops up in your online search, you are bound to say wow. One such stunning image of a clean river from Meghalaya has left the netizens in wonderment.
One of the cleanest rivers in the world. It is in India. River Umngot, 100 Kms from Shillong, in Meghalaya state. It seems as if the boat is in air; water is so clean and transparent. Wish all our rivers were as clean. Hats off to the people of Meghalaya. pic.twitter.com/pvVsSdrGQE

The Ministry of Jal Shakti has shared an aerial view of the pristine Umngot river from Shillong on its Twitter. “One of the cleanest rivers in the world. It is in India. River Umngot, 100 Kms from Shillong, in Meghalaya state. It seems as if the boat is in air; water is so clean and transparent. Wish all our rivers were as clean. Hats off to the people of Meghalaya,” wrote the Ministry of Jal Shakti.
The water is so clear that even the waterbed with all the stones and pebbles is visible. There’s a boat with five people on it and it gives an impression that it’s gliding on air. The green tone in the photo makes it look like a view from a jungle. It’s a delight for nature-lovers.”
While some people think the picture is photo-shopped, there are some who think people will go and pollute the clean river.
I think this is a photo shopped image. Would be glad to be proven wrong though.

I was there last month, and this is what the condition of it is right now. The music was played by the boatman... pic.twitter.com/qaIF8HyHeQ

I have seen the shopkeepers and locals not allowing the drains to get choked by litter. They all collect the litter from drains and let the drain water run unhindered. Besides they keep their surroundings quite clean too.

There is a basic difference the people of Meghalaya treat their river well while in north India they call river as mother but the way they treats river they can be easily called as motherf**kers

People of north east are the most polite and nicest people of India. Then Southern peninsula. And then comes the rest. People matters.
