Fazilka, December 28
In a joint search operation launched by the BSF and the Punjab Police, three smugglers were arrested and 1.8-kg heroin was recovered from them along the international border, near Gatti Bisoke, in the district on Friday.
Narinderpal Singh, Assistant Inspector General, Counter Intelligence Wing, said the smugglers had been identified as Sonu Singh, Gurnam Singh and Gurjeet Singh, all residents of Ferozepur.
Official sources said during search, the forces recovered two polythene bags containing 15 small packets containing 1.8 kg heroin worth Rs 9 crore in the international market. The contraband was found buried in a field at Parbhat Singhwala village. — OC
