Kotkapura (Faridkot), November 30
During his maiden appearance as Chief Minister at the epicentre of sacrilege incidents today, Charanjit Singh Channi squarely blamed Badals for the sacrilege incidents in Bargari and consequent firing incidents in Behbal Kalan and Kotkapura.
Addressing a gathering of the party at Kotkapura, the CM alleged Badals were hand in glove with perpetrators of this heinous crime. “We vow that real perpetrators of this unpardonable crime will not be spared,” he said.
Transport Minister Amarinder Singh Raja Warring also addressed the rally. He said nobody had ever dared to stop the buses of Badals. “Our government has not only stopped all illegal buses, but has also impounded 135 of these to fill the state coffers with Rs 14 crore. The daily income of the government buses has increased to Rs 1.15 crore,” he said.
Meanwhile, the family of Gurjeet Singh of Sarawan village, who was killed in Behbal Kalan firing in October 2015, criticised the state government for using the sacrilege issue for poll gains. “I waited for four hours to meet the CM at Kotkapura, but I was not denied permission. The government has forgotten the promises made in my son’s memory,” said Sadhu Singh, father of Gurjeet. — TNS
Matter sub judice, Channi lying: Akalis
Slamming CM Charanjit Singh Channi for his statements on sacrilege cases, the SAD on Tuesday said: “Channi tells brazen lies on sacrilege and firing incidents, and then takes the shelter behind the ‘sub judice’ excuse. If the case is ‘sub judice’, which it is, what has given Channi the right to pronounce a judgment?”
