Bathinda, September 14

Former Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal and SAD president Sukhbir Singh Badal said on Friday that they had never sought any security from the Congress government.

Talking to mediapersons here, Sukhbir said Manpreet was “resorting to cheap tantrums and mere theatrics” in talking about denial of security to the Badals. He said Parkash Singh Badal had not accepted even the offer of government house made by Chief Minister Amarinder Singh. “We don’t need any favour from this government, unlike some others now holding important positions in the present government who had sought and received such favours from the previous SAD-BJP regime,” he said.

Replying to another query regarding Local Bodies Minister Navjot Singh Sidhu approaching Akal Takht for action against the Badals, he said he would not like to comment on a person “who has lost his mental balance”.

Earlier, he lashed out at the state government for not allowing them to hold a rally in Faridkot. “On the one hand, they are not allowing us to hold a peaceful event and on the other, they are providing all facilities to the radical Sikh leaders staging protest in Bargari. The radicals are being treated as state guests for the past 106 days, despite the fact that they want to divide the country,” he alleged.
