Gangster Lawrence Bishnoi, accused in the killing of Punjabi singer Sidhu Moosewala, has been remanded to Punjab police custody till June 22 by a Mansa court on Wednesday.

Lawrence was presented before Judicial Magistrate First Class (Duty Magistrate) in Mansa at around 4.40 am amid stringent security. He was presented before the Magistrate after his medical check-up was conducted at the district civil hospital. After securing the police remand, the Punjab police took Bishnoi to CIA Staff office in Kharar, where he was interrogated.

Meanwhile, Hoshiarpur police had brought a gangster Gurbir Gora, on production warrant to Mohali for questioning by the Anti-Gangster Task Force. He is brother-in-law (sister's husband) of wanted gangster Goldy Brar.

Gora was lodged in Hoshiarpur jail.

Police sources said Gora was being cross-examined along with Lawrence Bishnoi regarding certain claims and counter claims.

It is learnt that SIT and AGTF interrogated Lawrence Bishnoi in Sidhu Moosewala killing case.

Earlier, sensing Bishnoi’s counsel would oppose his custody to the Punjab Police citing security concerns — Bishnoi had moved a Delhi court and Punjab & Haryana High Court apprehending fake encounter — the state police had gone to Delhi with two bulletproof vehicles and a posse of policemen in a bid to convince the court there was ample security for safe transit of the suspect to Punjab.

The SIT is also banking on Bishnoi’s interrogation, hoping he would provide vital clues that might lead to the arrest of the assailants involved in the murder. So far, the police have only arrested those suspected of providing logistical support and conducting recce.
