In view of decline in covid cases, Himachal pradesh government has decided open schools for classes X to XII from August 2 onwards.

The decision was taken by the Cabinet at a meeting chaired by Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur, here today. The Education and Health departments made a presentation before the Cabinet in view of the improved covid situation. However, the government has chosen to tread with caution and initially call only the students of senior most classes of X,XI and XII who have to take board exams.

The residential and partially residential schools have also been allowed to open for classes X to XII from August 2 by in strict adherence to the covid norms and laid down SoPs. The research scholars in universities would be allowed as per the dates to be notified by the university authorities.

A decision has also been taken to allow opening of coaching centres, tuition and training institutions across the state from July 26. Regular classes in schools will be held only for classes X to XII, however students from Class V to VIII will be allowed to come to school to get their doubts cleared from their teachers.

The Government has already allowed admissions to college from July 26 and classes will begin from August 16 onwards. Today 115 new cases were reported besides two deaths, one each in Mandi and Kangra. The number of active too has fallen to 935 and a major decline in the number of covid cases.
