India’s Jyoti Randhawa returned a fine 7-under in a bogey-free final round score of 65 to finish his campaign on a positive note in the 5th AfrAsia Bank Mauritius Open here today.

India’s Jyoti Randhawa returned a fine 7-under in a bogey-free final round score of 65 to finish his campaign on a positive note in the 5th AfrAsia Bank Mauritius Open here today. The 47-year-old Randhawa, an eight-time winner on the Asian Tour, finished tied-17th for a four-day tournament total of 274 at the picturesque Heritage Golf Cup. The 18-year-old Rasmus Hojgaard of Denmark kept his nerve in a tense three-way playoff to win the ^1 million tournament. Playing in only his fifth event on the European Tour, he holed a 10-foot eagle putt on the third playoff hole to win his maiden professional title.

The Indian women’s U-17 football team will play against Thailand and Sweden in a three-nation international tournament starting December 13 here as part of its preparations for next year’s FIFA U-17 World Cup to be held in the country. The All India Football Federation said that the December 13-19 tournament will be the first international competition to be hosted by the country in this age-group.

Indian paddler Manav Thakkar today became the first Indian to clinch the U-21 men’s singles title in an ITTF Challenge Series event with a comfortable win over Argentina’s Martin Bentancor here. Thakkar beat his opponent 11-3 11-5 11-6 in the ITTF Challenge Plus Benemax-Virgo North American Open here. It is India’s first U-21 men’s singles title since the ITTF Challenge Series became an entity in January 2017, as opposed to being an integral part of the ITTF World Tour. Thakkar joined Harmeet Desai, Sathiyan Gnanasekaran and Soumyajit Ghosh in the list of Indians to win ITTF World Tour U-21 men’s singles titles.

A reliable source in the Pakistan Cricket Board said since the requirements of the senior team were more important, it was decided to play Naseem in the Test matches against Sri Lanka this month and then against Bangladesh in January. “Two reserve pacers have already been named in the camp,” the source said.
