Keep women’s Tests alive, says England captain Knight

Heather Knight, the captain of England’s women’s cricket team, believes it is important to keep women’s Test cricket alive. Knight, who made her international debut back in 2010, has played only seven Test matches as against 104 ODIs and 81 T20Is.

Only 10 Tests for Indian women

• The Indian women have played only 10 Tests in this century, the last of them back in November 2014.
• After BCCI took over women’s cricket in 2006, the Indian women have played only four Tests in 15 years.
• India played only two Tests in the 2010s.

Test cricket remains at the margins of women’s cricket, and only eight women’s Tests have been played in the past decade. Six of them were part of the Ashes series between England and Australia.

England and India have not faced off against each other since 2014, when India won at Wormsley. It was confirmed today that India and England women will face each other in the format again with a four-day fixture in Bristol from June 16. — Agencies
