15 arrested for drug peddling in separate cases

AMRITSAR: The police have arrested 15 persons for possessing intoxicants. The CIA staff held two persons with intoxicating tablets in separate incidents.

The police have arrested 15 persons for possessing intoxicants. The CIA staff held two persons with intoxicating tablets in separate incidents. Those arrested were identified as Tarsem Singh, alias Laddi, of Pandori Waraich village and Dinesh Kumar of Chhota Haripura. They were caught with 830 and 800 tablets, respectively.

Similarly, the rural police have arrested 10 persons with habit-forming drugs. Manjot Singh of Nathoke village in Tarn Taran was held with 200 intoxicating tablets while Akashdeep Singh, alias Hardev Singh, of Hussainpura village in Attari was arrested with 545 tablets.

Jaspal Singh of Ramdass, Sahibpreet Singh and Harpreet Singh of Paidewal village were nabbed with 295 banned tablets.

Mangal Singh of Chatiwind, Lakhbir Singh of Bhangwa village and Malkeet Singh of Baba Bakala were held with 85, 100 and 100 tablets, respectively, in separate cases. Similarly Joban Singh of Harad Kalan village and Sonu of Jandiala were arrested with 70 and 210 intoxicating tablets, respectively.

Gurjinder Singh of Miandian Kalan was arrested with 5 gm of heroin. All of them were booked under relevant sections of the NDPS Act.

Meanwhile, the city police nabbed Iqbal Singh and Sukhjinder Singh of Avaan village in Ajnala with 3 kg of poppy husk. Iqbal was caught possessing 2 kg while Sukhjinder had 1 kg of poppy husk. The police have registered a case under Sections 15, 61 and 85 of the NDPS Act

The police will try to ascertain whom did the accused procure the drugs from.
