The police have arrested four persons after 2.3 kg of heroin and two pistols were seized from them. The suspects have been identified as Tajinder Singh of Upkar Nagar, Jalandhar; Rohit Joshi of Sandhu Colony, Majitha Road area; Shivam Kumar of Loon Mandi; and Bikram Singh of Jandiala Guru.

Addressing mediapersons, DCP (Detective) Mukhwinder Singh Bhullar on Wednesday said the police nabbed Tajinder from the Bhai Manjh Singh road with 300-gm heroin. He said during investigation, Tajinder revealed that he had procured the contraband from three other suspects. The DCP said Tajinder told the police that the other suspects were coming to Ranjit Avenue to deliver him 2-kg heroin.

He said acting on the tip-off, the police laid a naka in D block of Ranjit Avenue and intercepted a black SUV in which Rohit, Shivam and Bikram were travelling.

On checking, 1kg of heroin and a .32 bore pistol with three cartridges were seized from Rohit. The police seized 500-gm heroin and a .32 bore pistol from Shivam. Bikram was arrested with 500-gm heroin. The police also seized Rs7,000 from them. The SUV has been impounded.

The DCP said on checking their profiles on the social platform, the police found their links with some gangsters. He said these links were being verified and the suspects were produced in a court, which sent them to police remand.
