Amritsar, April 10

Around 70 employees of the Haryana Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee (HSGMC), who basically belong to Punjab, today staged a protest outside the SGPC headquarters demanding the Sikh body to absorb them here.

After procuring the legal validation, the ad hoc committee of the HSGMC has taken over the control of the gurdwaras and Sikh institutions, which were earlier being administered by the SGPC.

The development has resulted in instilling a sense of insecurity among the SGPC appointed employees at these shrines. The employees sitting on the dharna included Charanjit Singh, Beant Singh, Baljinder Singh, katha narrator Charanjit Singh said they wanted to return and work under the SGPC here.

SGPC president Harjinder Singh Dhami said they were now the employees under the HSGMC and should have staged protest in Haryana for their issues. “Still we will consider their concern,” he said.
