The Special Task Force (STF) today claimed to have arrested a close associate of illegal financer and alleged gangster Kamal Bori. He was identified as Ankush Jolly, a resident of the Islamabad area, who went underground after Bori’s arrest.

Meanwhile, the STF also brought Harjit Mahla, another associate of Bori, on a two-day production warrant.

While confirming the development, Inspector General (IG), STF, Kunwar Vijay Partap Singh, said Jolly had made certain revelations about illegal activities of Bori while further investigation was under progress. He said Jolly used to help Bori for arranging his stay and providing arms to gangsters, besides giving cash to them.

The STF had recovered three fire arms from Bori’s possession and two weapons from Harjit Mahla. The IG said the STF was hoping to get information about 100 rounds, which was noted in the arms licence of Mahla, who had not given any satisfactory reply to police queries as to how and where he used these bullets.

This is the fifth arrest made by the STF since Bori was apprehended. Earlier, the STF had nabbed Micky, Jatinder Kumar, who used to work in the DTO office, a policeman Angrej Singh, besides Harjit Mahla.

The IG said the STF was analysing the information gathered during interrogation of Mahla and Ankush Jolly. Sources said the accused were being sheltered by various political leaders and the police was looking at this angle too.
