The Central Board of Secondary Education(CBSE) has decided to integrate art with the teaching and learning process of all academic subjects from classes I to XII to make classroom learning joyful. The aim of the board is to make the classrooms joyful. Arts education will be taught as a mandatory subject for classes 1 to XII and facilities for the same may be provided in every school.

Every school shall compulsorily reserve a minimum of two periods per week, per class, for art education. The schools may also introduce a few cooking classes as a part of art education.

We are already running a full-fledged programme on food education in our school.” The forms to be taught, methodology, processes, etc. can be different at different levels, as may be decided by different schools. .

The board also mentions, non-examination-based and process-oriented evaluation shall be done. Theory practical, project work will be the basic components of all art forms to be taught.

The board has come up with multiple initiatives to focus on a child’s learning, equipping them better to meet challenges to live.
