Amritsar, February 17

DAV College kickstarted its 63rd sports and athletics meet here today. Former chief parliamentary secretary Navjot Kaur was the chief guest. Sukhdev Singh, director sports, Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar, was the guest of honor.

DAV College Principal Rajesh Kumar welcomed the guests. Speakers insisted on the significance of sports that are an integral part of our educational system.

Students took part in slow cycling race, hurdle race, discus throw, high jump, three-legged race and potato and spoon race.

Navjot Kaur Sidhu appreciated the spirit of sportsmanship exhibited by students. Sukhdev Singh said sports encouraged and produced competitive spirit among students.

College Principal said, “Sports work as a refreshing tonic for individual and provide an opportunity to students to tone up their muscles, strengthen their stamina, refresh their minds and rejuvenate their spirits.”
