Amritsar, January 14

The city-based educationists have hailed the move of the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) to come up with two levels of mathematics examination for students appearing in the Class X board examination from the next academic session.

The students will have the option to choose from two level of mathematics—mathematics standard and mathematics basic. The basic level is easier version of the subject, while standard one is the present format. The board has given choice of the examination to students.

Upasana Mehra, Principal, Senior Study II, said, “It is a good move, as this will act a great stress reliever. The students, who are clear with their career options, can avail of these examinations, on basis of their preferences.”

Manisha Dhanuka, Principal, Stalwarts World School, said, “It is a brilliant move going to help a student in long run. Moreover, at times, the overall percentage suffers due to bad score in a particular subject.” “Indeed, a sigh of relief for students, who are overburdened by syllabus. But the main question is will the private schools allow choice to students for exercising their right. But overall, it is a commendable move by the board,” said Varun Khanna, president, Amritsar Parents Welfare Association.
