High-velocity winds late last night resulted in damaging many trees as a result of which traffic was partially disrupted in many areas of the city today. Many of the trees were damaged at Government Medical College, here, Company Bagh and other areas.

Link roads leading to the city witnessed traffic snarls until the roads were cleared of the broken branches of trees. The strong winds started blowing around 9 pm. Though the intensity of the wind was low in urban areas, it created more trouble for residents in rural areas who were busy in harvesting of the wheat crop.

However, it brought a respite for city residents from the scorching heat as it helped in decreasing the temperature to a great extent.

“The temperature had suddenly increased during the past few days and it was becoming unbearable,” said a local resident, Surveen Kaur.
