Drug abuse has claimed one more life in the holy city. Kuldeep Singh (27), a resident of Malakpur village, was found dead in his agricultural fields in Nawa Pind on Sunday. The police have booked Sandeep Singh, alias Gaja, of Wadala Johal village, said to be a drug peddler. He is yet to be arrested.

Deceased’s brother Gurmeet Singh said Kuldeep got into bad company that left him addicted to drug abuse two years ago. He accused Sandeep Singh of forcing Kuldeep to take up drug consumption. He was under rehabilitation and was taking medicine from Jandiala.

He said Singh turned up at around 6.30 am on Sunday and took away Kuldeep Singh. Upon searching, the complainant found Kuldeep dead in his fields with an injection inserted in his veins in the arm.

Acting on his statement, the police have registered a case under Section 304 (culpable homicide not amounting to murder) of the IPC, and 27, 61, 85 of the NDPS Act at the Jandiala Guru police station.

SSP (Amritsar rural) Parampal Singh said raids were on to nab Sandeep while further investigation was under progress. He said the links of the accused would also be looked after his arrest. He said the entire nexus would be busted soon.
