Man, mother booked for dowry death

AMRITSAR: The Maqboolpura police have booked Amrik Singh of New Jaspal Nagar along with his mother Surinder Kaur in a dowry death case after Amrik’s wife Kawaljit Kaur died.

The Maqboolpura police have booked Amrik Singh of New Jaspal Nagar along with his mother Surinder Kaur in a dowry death case after Amrik’s wife Kawaljit Kaur died. Gurcharan Singh, the father of the victim, stated in his complaint that his daughter was married to the accused in 2010. After marriage, she gave birth to a male child who died after two months. Thereafter, his daughter could not conceive and this became a cause of frequent quarrels between the couple. He alleged that the accused started teasing and harassing her and threw her out of the house.

He alleged that shocked by this, his daughter became mentally ill and died yesterday. The police have registered a case.
