Married woman alleges rape, suspect on the run

AMRITSAR: A man has been booked for allegedly raping a married woman in Bhindi Nain village, falling under the Bhindi Saida police station here.

A man has been booked for allegedly raping a married woman in Bhindi Nain village, falling under the Bhindi Saida police station here. The incident occurred on July 27, but the victim lodged her complaint with the police on Tuesday evening. She alleged that the accused had been threatening to kill her family.

The victim stated to the police that her husband had gone to Hazoor Sahib in Nanded for pilgrimmage. She was cutting fodder for her cattle in fields when the accused, identified as Jassa Singh of the same village, turned up and allegedly raped her. According to her, she raised the alarm and her brother-in-law came to the spot. The accused fled while threatening to kill her in case she informed about it to anyone.

She said elders in the village unsuccessfully tried to make both groups reach a compromise following which a police case was registered.

Sections 376 and 506 of the IPC have been slapped. Jassa Singh is yet to be arrested.

Woman molested, one booked

The Rajasansi police have booked Amandeep Singh of Adliwal village for allegedly outraging the modesty of a woman. The 20-year-old woman alleged that she had gone to buy a few household items on Monday. While returning, the accused caught hold of her and resorted to indecency.

She said she got herself freed somehow and ran to her house. She told her parents about this following which a police complaint was lodged. The police have registered a case under Sections 354, 341 and 506 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) in this regard. No arrest has been made till now.
