AMRITSAR: To instill the spirit of sportsmanship and to enhance the physical fitness and social skills, the sixth annual athletics meet was held at Khalsa College of Engineering and Technology (KCET).

Amritsar, March 20

To instill the spirit of sportsmanship and to enhance the physical fitness and social skills, the sixth annual athletics meet was held at Khalsa College of Engineering and Technology (KCET). The meet was dedicated to the 550th Parkash Purab of Guru Nanak’ Dev Ji. Khalsa College Governing Council honourary secretary RMS Chhina was the chief guest. Race events were held in 100 m, 200 m and 500 m categories. Besides, long jump, shot put and tug of war for different categories were also held. More than 600 students and staff members of the KCET and the KCMT participated.

Mandeep Kaur of BSc (Agriculture) sixth semester was declared the best athlete among girls and Amritpal Singh of the same stream was the best athlete among boys. Tug of war was won by Computer Science and Engineering Department in girls and Khalsa College of Management and Technology in boys categories.

Girl students also mesmerised the audience with their energetic and colourful bhangra performance.

College Director-Principal Majnu Bala stressed on the importance of sports for overall personality development of the students.
