Man crushed to death

Amritsar: An unidentified person was crushed to death by an unknown vehicle in Rayya here on Friday. The police have registered a case under Section 304-A of the IPC. Mintoo, a resident of Dabbugarh Colony in Rayya, stated that at around 5 am he along with ‘safai karamcharis’ (sanitation workers) was going to the Rayya grain market when he spotted the body near the ‘nagar panchayat’ office.  The police have started a probe for his identification. 101-quintal wheat donated

Amritsar: Shiv Bhagwan Joshi of Hanumangarh in Rajasthan offered 101 quintals of wheat for langar at the Golden Temple on Saturday. Joshi said his family had unflinching faith in the Guru Ghar and they regularly came to the city to pay obeisance at the shrine. He said the tradition of serving round-the-clock langar to all devotees without any discrimination highly impressed them. SGPC official Sukhminder Singh offered him a siropa (robe of honour). TNS

Phillaur: The police seized 40 boxes of liquor and 100 intoxicating injections from a house in Phillaur on Friday. The suspects have been identified as Raman Kumar, Sarabjit Kaur and Paramjit Kaur. OC
