Amritsar, March 5

During the past few years the festival of colours, Holi, has changed a lot. Its only reason is that the festival is not limited to use of water guns (pichkaris) or gulal. New Holi items have flooded markets in the city. Just like Diwali, the holy city is known for celebrating Holi with passion in Punjab.

There was a time when children used to pour many packets of colour in a water bucket for playing Holi. Now, a small size colour capsule is available in the market, which changes the colour of water within a few seconds.

Holi lovers have to put a few capsules in a bucket or in their water guns to try the new invention.

Similarly, like colour capsules, bunch of balloons is attracting holi lovers, especially children. There is no need to waste a lot of time for filling every single balloon with water. The bunch carries 40 balloons and a nozzle. A person can fill all balloons within one minute. There is no need to tie balloons after filling these with water.

Sawtantar Dua, resident of the GT road, said, “I am surprised with these new items of Holi celebrations. There is need to check the amount of chemicals used in such colour capsules.” He said if these capsules were harmful then authorities should stop its sale.

Honey Sharma, another resident of the walled city, said, “I will buy bunch of balloons for my children. I will only use plain water instead of any chemical-enriched colour. Instead, I will go for organic colours.”

Parminder Singh, a resident of the Majitha road, said, “New innovations are acceptable, but I have made up my mind for buying organic colours, which are not easily available in the market. Shopkeepers have displayed only China-made water guns and colours.”
