SGPC calls meet on mandatory helmet decision

AMRITSAR: To discuss over the recent decision of Chandigarh administration to make helmet compulsory for two-wheeler women riders, including women of Sikh religion, the SGPC has scheduled a special meeting at its head office in Amritsar.

To discuss over the recent decision of Chandigarh administration to make helmet compulsory for two-wheeler women riders, including women of Sikh religion, the SGPC has scheduled a special meeting at its head office in Amritsar.

Diljit Singh Bedi, spokesperson and additional secretary, SGPC, said the meeting has been scheduled on July 12, which will be presided over by the Bibi Jagir Kaur, president, Akali Dal woman wing.

Bedi said taking note of the Chandigarh administration’s decision, the SGPC has appealed to review it keeping in view that the according to the Sikh ethics and tenants any type of cap on the head is prohibited.

“In this meeting, which will be exclusively be attended by SGPC women members, the next course of action against the administration’s decision will be decided,” said Bedi. — TNS
