Three jail inmates have been booked for trying to get bail from the Punjab and Haryana High Court by submitting fake medical certificates. The incident came to light when the court sent the same for verification.

Acting on the directions of the High Court, the police have booked them for fraud and forgery. They have been identified as Vicky of Chheharta, Yadwinder Singh of Jethunangal village and Munna Singh of Nagoke village in Tarn Taran. As per police officials, an inquiry was conducted by Vigilance sleuths and the jail superintendent in this regard.

Gurinder Singh, in charge of the Fatahpur police chowki and investigating officer, said the police had applied for getting a copy of the medical certificate. “Once we get the copy of the certificate, we will conduct an investigation. A racket is likely to be busted, which may have been involved in preparing fake certificates and helping criminals get bail,” he said.

Meanwhile, Central Jail authorities confiscated a mobile phone from two jail inmates — Gurpartap Singh of Sandhu Colony and Rahul Gill, alias Raghu, of Shaheed Mohinderpal Street.
