Three killed in road accidents

AMRITSAR: Two persons lost their lives while two others were injured when a car crashed into a concrete mixer on the Amritsar-Batala bypass road here this evening.

Two persons lost their lives while two others were injured when a car crashed into a concrete mixer on the Amritsar-Batala bypass road here this evening.

The deceased were identified as Prashant kumar, alias Babbu, of the Rishi Vihar locality and his relative Rajat Kumar.

Another youth who was passing from the area died when another vehicle hit him when he was crossing the road to reach the accident spot to save the victims. He was identified as Surjit Singh of the Mohni Park area.

One of the injured who was travelling in the car was identified as Honey of the Haripura area.

As per information, an unidentified concrete mixer driver fled away from the spot.

The victims were returning to Amritsar from Batala where they had gone for some work.

The accident took place when the driver of the concrete mixer was taking a turn. The car driver failed to see the same and crashed into the concrete mixer leading to the incident.

Ravinder kumar, SHO, Verka police station, said the police had started the investigation.
