Two held for attacking ASI

AMRITSAR: The city police arrested two persons for allegedly attacking an Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI), Gurjinder Singh, in-charge, Gurbax Nagar, here on Friday.

The city police arrested two persons for allegedly attacking an Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI), Gurjinder Singh, in-charge, Gurbax Nagar, here on Friday.

The police booked 14 persons in this connection. Two of them were arrested. They have been identified as Gurlal Singh and Gurwinder Singh of Waryam Singh Colony. Among others named in the FIR include Gurkaran Singh and Gurinder Singh.

ASI Gurjinder Singh mentioned in his complaint that the police received an information about quarrel in a liquor shop near the Bakar Mandi area on Jhabal road at around 10.30 pm on Friday. Singh said when the police team reached there and asked the vendor to shut the store, the accused, who were present there, got into a quarrel with them. They reportedly attacked the ASI with weapons. He was rushed to a private hospital with serious injuries. Jagtar Singh, investigating officer, said raids were on to nab the remaining suspects. The accused have been booked under different sections of the IPC, including attempt to murder, the police said. — TNS
