A day after two bankers were robbed in the city, youngsters feel that the drug menace and unemployment is pushing people into the crime world.

Palak Singh, an undergraduate student at SR Government College for Women, feels that in the wake of authorities having failed to curb crime, one should maintain his or her safety.”

Mehak, a PhD scholar, whose purse was snatched a couple months ago from Rani Ka Bagh, said, “Unemployed youth are taking to illegal activities for livelihood. The authorities concerned must ensure law and order.”

Another student, Rajan Sandhu, said, “Recently, a thief tried to snatch money from a woman standing outside an ATM at Chheharta road. I and a friend of mine were able to overpower him as we were passing by. CCTV cameras should be everywhere.”

Muskan Rajput, a college student, added, “Youngsters’ demands are growing and some families are not able to fulfill them. The influence of bad company also leads to the crime.”
