4 booked for attacking inmate in Central Jail

BATHINDA: The Cantonment police on Saturday booked four prisoners for attacking an inmate inside the Bathinda Central Jail on October 16.

The Cantonment police on Saturday booked four prisoners for attacking an inmate inside the Bathinda Central Jail on October 16.

Acting on the complaint of the jail administration, the Cantonment police booked Shamsher Singh, alias Shera, of Gurdaspur; Manoj Kumar, alias Mauji, of Dyalpura; Ranbir Singh of Hoshiarpur; and Rajvir Singh of Nathpura village.

The Deputy Superintendent of the Bathinda Central Jail told the police that on October 16, Rajnish, alias Preet, of Phagwara, who was booked in attempt to murder and arms cases, was taken to the video conferencing room from security block number 2 for a hearing. The Deputy Superintendent said when Rajnish was being taken back to his barrack, the four prisoners lodged in block number 3 suddenly attacked him. He said security personal came to his rescue and took him to the jail hospital.

ASI Jasvir Singh from the Cantonment police station said they had registered a case against four inmates.
