City boy wins gold at Thai boxing meet

BATHINDA: Devinder Singh, a student of Baba Farid Senior Secondary School studying in Class XI (arts), recently won a gold medal by bagging the first position in the Thai Boxing Championship, which was held in Bangkok (Thailand) from January 9 to 13, 2016.

Devinder Singh, a student of Baba Farid Senior Secondary School studying in Class XI (arts), recently won a gold medal by bagging the first position in the Thai Boxing Championship, which was held in Bangkok (Thailand) from January 9 to 13, 2016.

BFGI accorded a grand welcome by presenting bouquets and garlands to 17-year-old Devinder.

Devinder has won many competitions at the international, national, state and district level. He was honoured with a trophy and bouquet by the BFGI.

Devinder Singh said his next target was wining a gold medal in Olympics-2020 and for that he had already started preparations.

Principal of the school, Baljinder Singh congratulated Devinder for his achievement.

Chairman of BFGI, Dr Gurmeet Singh Dhaliwal congratulated the player for the wonderful victory.

Dr Dhaliwal said he had already announced that Devinder’s education would be free as long as he studied on the BFGI campus.

He said BFGI would provide all support to him in sports and academics.
