Bathinda, May 19

The police have arrested Gurukul College MD Bhushan Kumar for duping a city resident of Rs 30 lakh.

The police presented him in a court and he has been sent on one-day police remand.

A case was registered against the accused on February 18 on the basis of a complaint lodged by Bikramjit Singh Bahia.

Bikramjit Singh Bahia has stated that the accused and Renu Bala took earnest money of Rs 30 lakh for 460 square yard plot located on Multania road.

The complainant said despite getting the money and signing agreement of sale of the plot, the couple mortgaged it to a bank.

He said when he raised a hue and cry, the accused pacified him by giving two cheques for Rs 15 lakh each. However, the cheques were dishonoured, he added.

Thereafter, an inquiry was marked to SP (City). After the inquiry, a case under Section 140 and 34 of the IPC was registered against Bhushan and his wife Renu Bala at the Civil Lines police station.

Later, his anticipatory bail was rejected by the District and Sessions Judge.

Civil Lines police station SHO Kuldeep Singh Bhullar confirmed that they had arrested Bhushan Kumar in a fraud case.
