The Contractual Employees Action Committee on Saturday postponed its programme to gherao Finance Minister Manpreet Badal’s residence at Badal village here after the latter fixed a meeting with them on October 17 in Chandigarh.

Notably, the employees had announced to lodge protest on October 13. Imran Bhatti, Ashish Julaha and Daljinder Singh, activists of the committee, said if the minister did not meet them on October 17, they would gherao his residence on October 20.

“Besides, we will go to Rajasthan and inform public there about the promises listed by the Congress in its manifesto, but its failure to fulfil them,” they said.

Notably, the contractual employees are demanding regularisation of jobs, opposing cut on their pay and jobs for suwidha kendra employees.

Earlier, these employees had held a stall at Malout town during Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh’s rally in Lambi, and offered blood and laddoos made with soil to the Congress leaders going to attend the rally. — TNS
