Fancy numbers: 0013 sold for Rs 2.54 lakh

BATHINDA: In a first, the auction of fancy numbers was conducted under the e-auction system in the district with an aim to bring in transparency.

In a first, the auction of fancy numbers was conducted under the e-auction system in the district with an aim to bring in transparency.

The number 0013 fetched the highest price with applicant Khushdeep Singh taking it for Rs 2,54,500 in the auction for fancy numbers new series PB03AW.

In the auction, the much sought-after 001 shared the second spot with number 007. Yadwinder Singh Kullar bought 001 for Rs 2,50,500 while Vijay Kumar purchased 007 also for Rs 2,50,500.

Apart from this, people were also keen on bidding for numbers having same digits such as 3333, which was bought by Navjot Singh for Rs 2,40,000.

Similarly, the numbers 1111, 2222, 4444, 5555 and so on got one of the highest bids as compared to other numbers.

A total of 259 fancy numbers were on offer during the auction, though the applicants made bids for 72 of them.

Meanwhile, people are still making rounds of the Regional Transport Authority (RTA) office with the hope that they would get their favourite numbers.

A number of residents said they were not aware of the registration process under the e-auction system.

Besides, they also didn’t know how to bid for these numbers in the new system.
