The police today claimed to have arrested four persons for making fake identity cards. According to the police, the accused were involved in preparing fake Aadhaar and ration cards. They were using the fake identity proofs for signing land deals and furnishing bail bonds in the court, the police added.

The accused have been identified as Pritam Singh, a resident of Bangi Nagar; Satish Kumar, a resident of Vishal Nagar; Ravi Kumar, a resident of Adrash Nagar and Raj Kumar, a resident of Udham Singh Nagar.

Davinder Singh, Station House Officer (SHO) of the Kotwali police station, said acting on a tip-off, a police party led by Assistant Sub-Inspector Kulwinder Singh arrested the accused.

The police have registered a case against Parveen Padri, a resident of Udham Singh Nagar; Santosh Kumari, a resident of Guru Nanak Pura Mohalla; and two unidentified persons in this regard.

During an investigation, it was found that the accused sold two plots by preparing fake identity cards and posed as plot owners in front of officials of the Revenue Department.

They also used to charge a hefty amount from people for proving fake identity proofs to furnish bail bonds.

The SHO said the accused used to take out photocopies of identity proofs and later, they would change the name or father’s name for forging the identity cards.

The police are also investigating the role of Revenue Department’s employees. The SHO said if anyone was involved, strict action would be taken against him.
