The CIA-II wing of the Bathinda police today claimed to have busted a gang of gamblers that was active at Nar Singh Colony, falling under the Sangat police station. The police arrested four members of the gang on the charge of gambling while two other members are on the run.
The accused were involved in gambling for the past one year. They were also luring residents to the practice.
A case under Sections 13-A, 3 and 67 of the Gambling Act and 420 of the IPC has been registered at the Sangat police station.
The accused have been identified as Ajaib Singh, Sunny Kumar and Varinder Kumar, residents of Dabwali in Haryana; Amit Kumar and Jagdish Kumar, residents of Narr Singh Colony; and Ramesh Kumar, a resident of Killianwali village.
Tarjinder Singh, in charge of the CIA-II wing, said acting on a tip-off, a team led by Sub-inspector Jagroop Singh conducted a raid at Narr Singh Colony and arrested the accused.
A laptop and cash in Rs 10,500 were also recovered from them. The accused today produced in the court of duty magistrate, which sent them to judicial custody.
The police teams were conducted raids to nab the absconding accused, Tarjinder Singh added. — TNS
