Lt Gen Soni takes command of Chetak Corps

BATHINDA: Lieutenant General DR Soni, Vishist Seva Medal, has taken over command of the Chetak Corps from Lieutenant General PM Hariz, a press release said here today.

Bathinda, June 18

Lieutenant General DR Soni, Vishist Seva Medal, has taken over command of the Chetak Corps from Lieutenant General PM Hariz, a press release said here today.

General Soni, an alumnus of the National Defence Academy, Khadakvasla, and Indian Military Academy, Dehradun, was commissioned in June 1979. The General Officer is a graduate from the Defence Services Staff College, Wellington, and has attended the higher command course.

He is a postgraduate from National Defence College, New Delhi. The General Officer is also a postgraduate in global security from Defence College of Management and Technology (Cranfield University), Shrivenham, UK.

General Soni has the distinction of having commanded an elite Armoured Regiment, an Armoured Brigade and an Armoured Division as part of the Strike Corps on the Western Front.

He has served in a Mountain Division, counter insurgency operations and with the United Nations. In addition, he has held several coveted general staff appointments at the Corps and command headquarters level.
