Man killed as bus, motorcycle collide

MALOUT: A man lost his life and another sustained injuries in a collision between a private bus and a motorcycle near Mehna village on the Malout-Dabwali highway on Wednesday night.

A man lost his life and another sustained injuries in a collision between a private bus and a motorcycle near Mehna village on the Malout-Dabwali highway on Wednesday night.

Sources said the bus even dragged the motorcycle about 100-ft away and its marks were also visible on the road. They said the bus stopped after hitting a tree on the roadside.

The deceased has been identified as 38-year-old Sukhraj Singh of Badal village. The injured has been identified as Gurmel Singh of the same village. Both of them are contractual employees at the sports stadium in Badal village.

After the mishap, many residents reached the spot and staged a protest. On Thursday, they protested outside the Lambi police station.

Relatives of the deceased said Sukhraj had gone to Dabwali for some work and the accident took place when he was returning.

The Lambi police have registered a case against bus driver Ramesh Kumar of Abohar.
