MCB to declare five roads commercial

BATHINDA:The Municipal Corporation of Bathinda (MCB) has planned to declare five roads commercial, which come under the approved town planning scheme in the city.

Bathinda, March 6

The Municipal Corporation of Bathinda (MCB) has planned to declare five roads commercial, which come under the approved town planning scheme in the city. The Local Bodies Department has given its approval to the proposal.

The MCB had sent the names of eight roads to the department, but as per the master plan, only five roads were found to be eligible for declaring commercial.

The state government has written a letter to the MCB directing it to initiate action for declaring five roads commercial.

Following this, the building branch has prepared a proposal to move ahead and included it in the agenda of the general house  meeting, which is scheduled to be held on March 12. After getting house approval, further action could be initiated in this matter.

If it is approved, the MCB would be able to fill its coffers and residents who have got their residential maps approved and have constructed commercial building on these roads would now be able to convert these buildings into commercial by paying CLU (change of land use).

Earlier as well, the MCB had declared 15 roads commercial. The five roads that have been selected for this purpose are 60-feet Gurukul road (TP scheme number 15), Gurukul to Jogi Nagar 60-feet road (TP scheme 15), 60-feet Dr Maheshwari road (TP scheme number 3 part 2), 100-feet Santpura road to Dr Mela Ram road (TP scheme number 1 part 3) and 100-feet road connecting Goniana road with Barnala by-pass (TP scheme 9 part 1).

As per the building branch report, the department has stated before declaring these five roads commercial on September 21, 2017, they had given advertisement in two newspapers asking for objections and 30-day time, but the MCB did not get any objection over declaring these five roads commercial.

As per the state government notification, this proposal can be sent to the house for the approval. — TNS
