Bathinda, February 17

The building branch of the Municipal Corporation, (MC), Bathinda, today removed an encroachment in Model Town Phase-I.

This morning, an MC team headed by SDO Rajinder Kumar and building inspector Ankush Kumar reached with a JCB machine and removed a gate installed on a road in the area.

The MC has received many complaints from residents regarding the encroachment. It has started a drive against the illegal buildings in the city.

MC Anil Garg has issued notice to all officials of the building branch seeking a report and list on the illegal buildings built in their area and action taken by the officials.

The building inspectors have prepared a list of illegal buildings and the MCB can launch a crackdown in the coming days.

A few days ago, an MC team removed an encroachment from the ponds at Sanguana Basti, and Sanjay Nagar.

SAD councillor Santosh Mahant had also raised this issue of encroachment on Sanguana Basti pond. The MC had earlier issued a notice to the person who had encroached on the land of the pond by building a room.

After getting no response, MCB officials reached there with a JCB machine and removed the encroachment. The team had to face protest at Balraj Nagar near Sanjay Nagar pond for removing the encroachment.

An MCB official said, “We have just started and the drive will continue in the coming days.”
