BATHINDA: City youth Aadil Brar has been awarded the Young Explorers Grant by National Geographic to conduct a research project on the intersection of anthropology and environmentalism in Kangchendzonga National Park, Sikkim.

City youth Aadil Brar has been awarded the Young Explorers Grant by National Geographic to conduct a research project on the intersection of anthropology and environmentalism in Kangchendzonga National Park, Sikkim.

A graduate (BA) in anthropology from the University of British Columbia (UBC), Vancouver, Aadil Brar was previously awarded research grant last year by UBC.

Aadil will stay for seven months during his research in Sikkim to conduct interviews and use anthropological research method.

He will work on whether the tourism in Kangchendzonga National Park is leaving any adverse impact on humans, besides the environment.

“I have been awarded the Young Explorers Grant by National Geographic. It is a highly competitive grant programme and it is awarded annually. This grant will be used for research in Sikkim. The project focuses on the intersection of anthropology and environmentalism,” Aadil said.

“My broader area of research is visual anthropology, North East India, and politics of culture,” he said.
