Central Jail inmates clash, warder hurt

BATHINDA: Two groups of jail inmates clashed inside the Central Jail at Gobindpura village in the district on Thursday.

Two groups of jail inmates clashed inside the Central Jail at Gobindpura village in the district on Thursday.

The inmates first had a fight inside the police van. Later, on reaching the jail, then entered into scuffle and beat up each other. When the head warden of the jail tried to pacify them, they attacked and injured him. The head warden was admitted to the hospital inside the jail while all inmates involved in the clash were sent to separate barracks.

A case has been registered against nine jail inmates at the Cantonment police station on a complaint by the Assistant Jail Superintendent under various sections.

In a complaint sent to the police, the Assistant Superintendent of Central Jail, Bathinda, Navdeep Singh has stated that inmates Sonu Kumar from Maniana and Gurpreet Singh from Bahoyatri, Gulshan Singh from Khemuana, Sujinder Singh of Burj Mansa, Dharampreet Singh of Khemuana were involved in the incident.
