Freedom fighters’ kin protest over demands

BATHINDA: Members of the Freedom Fighter Successors’ Association demanded fulfilment of their pending demands, including increase in the reservation quota for government jobs and exemption from power bills up to 300 units, among other demands.

Members of the Freedom Fighter Successors’ Association demanded fulfilment of their pending demands, including increase in the reservation quota for government jobs and exemption from power bills up to 300 units, among other demands. The demands were discussed during a meeting conducted by the association members at Children’s Park. During the meeting, names of the new executive body were also announced by the association.

In the new executive body, Nirbhay Singh Jethuke, president, Baldev Singh, general secretary, Surjit Singh, senior vice-president, Swaran Singh, vice-president and Harbansh Singh joint secretary and Jaspal Singh Phul were adjudged as treasurer.

Harinder Pal Singh, state president of the association said, “The executive members of the association said there were some fake freedom fighters’ association operating in the district that needed to be checked on priority. We demand that their documents must be examined thoroughly to rule out whether they are genuine (freedom fighters) or not. We also demand from the government to address our pending demands of exemption to electricity bills, toll tax exemption, increase in employment quota among other demands, at the earliest. These demands have been lying pending for a long time now.”
