Bathinda, August 20

City residents on Monday met Municipal Commissioner Dr Rishipal Singh and raised the issue of rising stray cattle menace in the city.

They submitted a memorandum regarding it to the Municipal commissioner stating that the count of stray cattle was increasing day by day.

The MCB is taking money from the people in the name of cow cess and providing security to the people from stray cattle is also its responsibility, but it has not been done till now, they added.

They have given an ultimatum of seven days to shift stray cattle to gaushalas or make other arrangements, otherwise they would start throwing green fodder at the MCB office in protest.

The Municipal Corporation of Bathinda is the first in the state to levy cow cess with an aim to check the problem of stray cattle menace, but it has failed to give any respite to the residents.
