Varsity holds badminton meet

BATHINDA: Two day Inter-College Badminton Tournament 2018-19 was organised by Maharaja Ranjit Singh Punjab Technical University (MRSPTU), Bathinda, at the local Civil Lines Club on Wednesday.

Two day Inter-College Badminton Tournament 2018-19 was organised by Maharaja Ranjit Singh Punjab Technical University (MRSPTU), Bathinda, at the local Civil Lines Club on Wednesday.

To churn out best talent, the tournament was conducted on league basis.

In girls’ category, the host MRSPTU main campus team won the competition by securing 9 points while Baba Farid College of Engineering and Technology (BFCET), Deon, finished second with 6 points and Lala Lajpat Rai College of Pharmacy (LLRCP), Moga, claimed the third spot with 3 points.

In boys’ category, LLRCP secured the first position with 9 points and MRSPTU main campus team won silver medal with 6 points while BFCET, Deon, clinched bronze medal by securing 3 points.

Thew tournament was inaugurated by chief guest Prof Bhupinder Pal Singh Dhot, Director, Sports and Youth Welfare, MRSPTU.

On the concluding day, chief guest Prof Karanvir Singh, controller examination, MRSPTU, Prof Bhupinder Pal Singh Dhot, Er Sikander Singh Sidhu, assistant director sports, gave away prizes to the winners. — TNS
