New Delhi, December 14

Wholesale Price Inflation (WPI) jumped to eight-month high of 3.93% in November due to a spike in sharp rise in prices of vegetables like onion and tomato.

The November WPI figure is the highest so far this fiscal and the previous high was when it touched 3.85% in April.

Industry body Assocham said the continuous increase in the prices of petrol and diesel due to rise in prices of crude oil globally have to be taken care of by the policy makers since it may have impact on import bills and subsequent impact on exchange rates.

Aditi Nayar, Principal Economist, ICRA said the uptick in the WPI inflation to the eight-month high of 3.9% in November was led by primary food items, core inflation and a lagged correction in crude oil and minerals.
