Residents of Phase XI were left high and dry as the power supply remained suspended in the area for around 11 hours today.

Area residents said the power supply was snapped around 9.30 am and restored at 8.30 pm. They lamented that due to the long power outage, invertors too gave up after some hours.

Surjit Singh, a Phase XI resident, said, “In the absence of power, we faced a lot of inconvenience today. We learnt that there was power shutdown in the area for some time but the power could not be restored till 8.30 pm.”

Rajwinder Kaur, another resident, said, “Geysers and other necessary household appliances did not work today in absence of power. Due to this, our routine schedule was largely affected.”

GS Sandhu, SDO, Punjab State Power Corporation Limited, said there was a scheduled six-hour power cut in the area, but it got extended due to some technical glitch in the grid. “The supply was restored around 8.30 pm,” said Sandhu.
