200 sandalwood saplings planted

CHANDIGARH:The City Beautiful today got its first ‘Chandan Vatika’ with the plantation of a sandalwood sapling by UT Adviser Manoj Parida.

The City Beautiful today got its first ‘Chandan Vatika’ with the plantation of a sandalwood sapling by UT Adviser Manoj Parida.

Prem Garg, founder of ‘My Tree’ foundation, proposes to plant 10,000 sandalwood saplings in the tricity within a year or two.

The Chief Conservator of Forests has earmarked about a hectare of land in Botanical Garden, Sarangpur, for it. Around 200 saplings of sandalwood plants have been planted by the UT Adviser, Chief Conservator of Forests Debendra Dalai, chief architect Kapil Setia and others. The UT Adviser  also accepted a proposal of Prem Garg, for adoption of trees by city residents. — TNS
