Three policemen, including a reader, and two others of the Sector 10 police station have been booked on the charge of thrashing three advocates at a ‘dhaba’ in the wee hours of Sunday morning

Advocate Vikas Malik, Vice-President, Punjab and Haryana High Court Bar Association, said advocate Dipankur Sharma, along with his two colleagues, entered into a brawl with dhaba owner Ravi Tiwari and his staff allegedly thrashed them and later called the police. Police reader Sunil, along with two Home Guard jawans Rakesh and Saurav, came and started favouring the dhaba owner and beat up the advocates.

Advocate Sharma said the victims called him and he reached the spot. He said: “When I tried to reason with the police officials, they did not listen to me and instead called some goons, led by one Davinder Sharma, who also started beating up the advocates.” He immediately called the Deputy Commissioner of Police who directed the DSP to look into the matter. He said after the arrival of DCP, the goons fled the spot. He said advocate Dipankur was injured.

Sector 5 SHO Ram Pal said a case has been registered against Suni, Rakesh, Saurav, Ravi Tiwari and Davinder Sharma under Section 148, 149, 323, 379B, 506 of the IPC. However, no arrests have been made so far.
