Three youths were killed in a road accident on the Mianpur-Ballamgarh-Mandwara road near here last evening. The deceased, all aged 23, have been identified as Gurjant Singh of Roulmajra village, Harmanpreet Singh of Maujlipur village and Bhupinder Singh of Mandwara village.

According to the police, Gurjant and his friend Harmanpreet were coming from the Chandigarh side on a motorcycle when a tractor-trailer, loaded with wooden logs, hit them near Mandwra village. The tractor overturned and Bhupinder, who was sitting on it, was killed as wooden logs fell on him.

Harmanpreet and Gurjant suffered serious injuries and were taken to the Civil Hospital where Harmanpreet was declared brought dead, while Gurjant was referred to the PGI, where he succumbed to his injuries.

The bodies of all three youths were handed over to their relatives after a postmortem. Harmanpreet and Gurjant were employed in Chandigarh. Harmanpreet was planning to migrate to Canada. The police said a case had been registered against the tractor-trailer driver, Randhir Singh.
